Abstract:

Free radicals or highly reactive oxygen species are capable of inducing oxidative damage to human body. Antioxidants are the compounds which terminate the attack of reactive species and reduce the risk of diseases. Hemidesmus indicus is used in treatment of various disorders in humans. The study was conducted to determine the antioxidant properties of Hemidesmus indicus leaf and root extracts in methanol.

Keywords:

Hemieismus indicus DPPH, free radical scavenging activity, antioxidant activity, reducing ability.
