Abstract:

Birds were surveyed in and around 9 different terrestrial habitats in Vadodara city in the semi-arid zone of Gujarat, India for two years (2005-2007). The habitats were mainly divided in to 3 categories disturbed, moderately disturbed and undisturbed. The density and diversity indices like species richness, Shannon-Weiner diversity index, evenness and abundance of birds were calculated for all the habitats to find out status of birds in the particular area compared to the other areas to find out the influence of urbanization on the same.
