Biology, ecology and control of weevils (Curculionidae: Coleoptera) on Mango Mangnifera indica Linn. from western Maharashtra

Abstract:

Mango Mangifera indica Linnaeus is king of the fruits and has nutritional and medicinal value and widely cultivated in Maharashtra. However, the crop is attached by about 11 species of Weevil (Coleoptera: Curculionidae). The important genera refer to Sternochetus, Myllocerus, Apoderus, Rhynchaenus, Alcidodes, Amblyrrhinus and Camptorrhinus. Sternochetus and Rhynchaenus were found damaging fruits and rest of genera has damaged the tender leaves, buds and shoots of mango.
